Draft — under review. Being prepared by NATCA ITC; not yet announced to members.

For all NATCA members bidding leave. This page walks you through bidding your leave, one step at a time — from the moment it's your turn to seeing the days you've been awarded. No prior experience needed.

You bid in order. Leave is bid one person at a time, in your area's seniority order. You'll get a notice (email or text) when it's your turn — that's your signal to open your bidding page and pick your days.

Before it's your turn

You don't need to do anything until it's your turn. When your turn comes up, NATCA sends you a notice by email or text. That message includes a one-tap link that opens your bidding page — no separate password to remember.

You can also sign in any time with your MyNATCA account to check where things stand and see how close the round is to reaching you.

Set how you're reached. Make sure your notice method (email or text) is up to date so you don't miss your turn. You can change it from your profile — see My Bids and My Account.

Bid your leave

When it's your turn, here's the whole process:

  1. Open your bidding page. Tap the link in your email or text, or sign in with your MyNATCA account and go to the Leave tab for your area.
  2. Confirm it's your turn. A bar at the top shows when you're up. Select Enter bid to begin. (If it isn't your turn yet, the page will tell you — you can look around, but you can't submit until you're up.)
  3. Check how much leave you have. The page shows the leave available to you for this round — your accrued hours, any carryover, and any manual adjustments, minus anything you've already bid. Keep this number in mind as you pick days.
  4. Look at the calendar. You'll see the leave days by date. Each date shows how many slots are still open. Days that are full aren't available to pick.
  5. Choose your day or days. Select the date(s) you want. As you pick, a summary at the bottom keeps a running total of what you've selected. If more than one kind of leave is offered, use the filter to switch between them.
  6. Watch for any round rules. Some rounds have limits — for example, a maximum number of days, or days that must be back-to-back. If a choice isn't allowed, the page tells you right away and explains why. See Rules that may apply below.
  7. Submit. When your selection looks right, submit it. You'll get a confirmation, and your turn passes to the next person.

Take your time — but don't leave it open. While it's your turn, others are waiting on you. Make your picks and submit. If you don't want any leave this round, you can choose to skip instead.

Rules that may apply

Every round is a little different. Your facility's BID admins set the rules for each round, and the page enforces them for you — you'll never be allowed to submit something that breaks a rule. Here are the ones you might run into:
