The Grievance module in MyNATCA is a central place to file, track, and manage grievances through the contractual process — replacing paper and email-based tracking.

New to the module? An interactive walk-through and a video tutorial are both available for a guided run-through before using the steps below.

How it works

  1. Go to my.natca.org and select Grievances from the left menu.
  2. My Grievances shows any grievance you filed or are listed as the grievant on, current and past.
  3. What you can see and do depends on your permissions — see below.
  4. Representatives create and manage grievances through a structured form covering the grievant, the alleged violation, supporting documentation, and contractual timelines.

Permissions

Role Can do
Grievant (the affected member) View their own grievances; create/edit/delete a Step 1 grievance
Facility/Area Representative View their own and their facility's grievances; create/edit/delete Step 1 and Step 2
Regional Labor Relations (LR) Team View all grievances; create/edit/delete Step 1 and Step 2; elevate/close
National Grievance Review Team View all grievances; create/edit/delete Step 1 and Step 2; elevate/close

Permissions can also be configured for other teams and positions beyond the defaults above.

Filing a grievance (for representatives)

  1. Select Create New Grievance.
  2. Grievant — search by last name, or first-initial-then-last-name (for example, j dos matches James Dosh, Jason Doss, Justin Doss).
  3. Adverse action — mark if this involves a disciplinary or adverse action. Disciplinary action covers suspensions of 14 days or less and reprimands; adverse action covers more severe discipline — removals, suspensions over 14 days, and reductions in grade or pay. Hover the info icon for the full definition.
  4. Meeting requested — if selected, a Meeting step is added to the grievance's tracking and its contractual timelines are calculated automatically.
  5. Step 1 / Step 2 details — members can enter their own Step 1 grievance; Step 2 is restricted to representatives of the grievant's facility.
  6. Representative — auto-fills from the last-used value where available; can be changed, since entry can be delegated to another user.
  7. Recipient (the manager) — type a name and select from the dropdown to add a new one, or select/edit/delete an existing one from the dropdown.
  8. Date of Violation & Date Submitted — both default to today; the Date of Violation must be accurate, since it drives the contractual timeline calculations.
  9. Subject of Grievance — up to 144 characters, alphanumeric plus hyphens and punctuation.
